Murphy Sprayers

Murphy Spray Guns from the Hill and Griffith Company

spray gun

The Murphy Spray Gun is designed as a heavy duty conventional air sprayer. Used many decades in the foundry industry for spraying mold release onto cores and patterns, it is a rugged cast iron sprayer that can stand up to rough treatment and still provide a reliable pattern. The Murphy Spray Gun is designed for high solid content material. Four sizes are available: 1/8" (3 mm), 1/4" (6 mm), 3/8" (10 mm) and 1/2" (13 mm). A 5' (1.53 m) suction siphon hose with a metal sinker weight attached to the end to keep the intake below the liquid surface is needed. Liquid is pumped from open containers through the 5' (1.53 m)of siphon tubing to the atomizing sprayer.

The Murphy Spray Gun is an ideal siphon feed spray gun to apply: undercoating, gel coat, fiberglass, refractories, form releases and most liquids that have a suspended solid content. The atomizing sprayer effect produces a uniform spray pattern that increases worker efficiency and productivity.

Used as a spray washer, the 5' (1.53 m) suction hose can apply a detergent liquid or degreaser solvent from a 5 gallon bucket or a drum.

The Murphy Air Gun is ideal as an air blow-off nozzle. Just remove the suction hose and the recommended 90 psi (43 Millibars) air supply is directed through the gun for drying or cleaning parts and assemblies.

The Murphy Sprayer produces a strong suction at the hose feed end. The suction generated can be used to vacuum liquids from hard to reach areas in molds or forms.

The in-line version is available as the Hamilton Spray Gun.

Conventional Air Spray Gun

The Murphy Pistol grip gun is a conventional air spray gun. Recommended 90 psi (43 Millibars) air is directed across an orifice, creating a vacuum in the suction tube. The 5' (1.53 m) suction hose has a heavy sinker attached at the end to keep it under the liquid level in the container. The container doesn't have to be pressurized. For most industrial production needs, the pistol grip Murphy Sprayer is preferred because the air and siphon hose are aligned and kept out of the way of production machinery.

Pistol Grip or Straight Line Hamilton Models

The Murphy Sprayer also comes in a Straight Line Hamilton configuration. The straight sprayer is available in 1/8" (3 mm) and 1/4" (6 mm) nozzle models. It is ideal for applications that require quick changing of different liquids to be sprayed. The suction hose exits at a 90 degree angle helping to keep it in the liquid bucket, which is placed between the operator and the work surface.
